Bib recognition reads the number on a race bib and uses it to find a runner’s photos in an event gallery.
Bib recognition, also called bib-number matching or bib OCR, works best when the number is visible, sharp, and connected to the correct race. It gives runners a precise search path without requiring them to browse the full gallery.
It is not a complete replacement for face matching. A bib can be hidden, turned away, folded, or blurred, so a race gallery may offer both bib and selfie search. MomentPik combines the two for marathon and race photo delivery.
